From the information available it suggests that Lt Moon was commissioned after having been captured in France. This would be described if we had access to his service record and therefore family support would be most valuable in clarifying the situation. Similarly, the genealogical aspects of the research suggest he was born, married and died in Lancashire - possibly Chorley or Croston. The existence of other men with the same name and similar dates makes identifying him specifically rather difficult - again, family help is needed.
