Headstone inscription reads:- "THE LOVE DIVINE, WHICH MADE US THINE, SHALL KEEP US THINE FOR EVER". Probate granted 25/6/1946 at Newcastle upon Tyne to his widow, Annie Townsley.
Home address Son of Ambrose and Jean Townsley of Berwick on Tweed. Married Annie Simpson - registered in Q2 at Berwick in 1931 At the time of the 1939 General Register Ambrose was working as a General Labourer and he and his wife were living at 19 Sea View. He was listed as a Sergeant in the 9th Battalion. Annie subsequently lived at 10, Sea View, Highfields, Berwick on Tweed.
