Discharged under King's Regulations 1939 Para 383 (xviii)a) for the purposes of being returned to his civilian occupation. Although we do not know exactly when his discharge took effect it looks unlikely that he transferred to the Black Watch, as did virtually all his comrades.

Home address Father Robert Wray (1881 - 1943), mother - Catherine Miller (1883 - 1963). In 1921 Henry was living in Gateshead with his family. Henry married Christine Gettings (1918 - 1997) in Gatehead in July 1939. In the 1939 General Register he is shown as being a member of the 12th Battalion DLI and working as a Colliery Haulage Driver. It is known that due to the enthusiastic ratte of enlistment among mineworkers men were "combed out" and returned to their Civilian occupation - as was Henry - as they were demmed potentially more valuable to the War Effort.
