4 June 1941 – Artun – Reykjavik.

Ceremony held on Reykjavik Aerodrome, now Reykjavik Airport, to celebrate completion of No 1 Runway – speech by G.O.C. and speech in Icelandic by Lt Beckwith, 1/6 DWR. Civilian workers received double pay for the day.

11 June 1941

Arrival of American observers from the UK with Col. Napier, Q.M., War Office.

12 June 1941

King’s Birthday ceremonial parade at Football Stadium, Reykjavik.

Arrival of American Army observers by air from U.S.A.

23 June 1941

Arrival of Royal Ulsterman and Royal Scotsman, bringing:-

No 1 Fire Brigade.

222 and 113 Petrol Depots.

99 D.I.D. (Detail Issue Depot).

13 Field Butchery.

Sub-Section 18 Field Bakery.

Section 135 Mechanical Engineering Company, Royal Engineers.

24 June 1941

Leave Trip F sailed.

28 June 1941

4 Officers and 36 ratings, Prisoners of War, from sunk German U-Boat brought in by HMS Gladiolus and placed under guard in Detention Barracks.

Reykjavik – 11 convictions.
